Principal Legal Counsel, Hearings and Mediation Department
Intrigued by IP law, policy and practice, Sok Yee enjoyed the fresh years of legal practice before joining the public sector. Since then, she has been privileged to contribute in many capacities. She assisted the government on the copyright portfolio, as a member of the IP Inter-Ministerial Committee (helping to implement the then-groundbreaking US-Singapore FTA) and as Singapore's representative at the WIPO Standing Committee on Copyright and Related Rights in Geneva.
As in-house counsel, she advised IPOS on transactions and risk management; and oversaw the massive contractual portfolio behind Singapore’s hosting of the WIPO diplomatic conference for the Singapore Treaty on the Law of Trademarks.
Currently Principal Legal Counsel with the Hearings and Mediation Department at the Intellectual Property Office of Singapore, Sok Yee adjudicates IP disputes and reviews dispute resolution policy, with an interest in access to justice. She enjoys curating and teaching the Bar course on IP Practice.
